2/13/2024 0 Comments Citites skylines next steam sale![]() I'm just comparing it on a "dollar per hour" basis, and most computer games, discounted or not, actually stack up very well against most other forms of entertainment. I'm not suggesting that we should only play computer games and have zero other kinds of entertainment. That would be a less-than-desirable start to 2022, wouldn't it? But if that blows your hair back, well maybe we should add another hour or two of adrenaline-filled excitement to the basketball option? Oh, and don't forget, it's downtown Detroit, so you'll be fighting traffic and stepping lightly to and from your car to avoid being jacked in the Motor City. Basketball games take about what, 3 hours plus? And then there's parking and concessions, which would probably add another $50-$75 (or more?) to the price of your evening. Nosebleed seats are only $24, but hell, it's New Year's Day, so why not splurge on yourself? Well, if you want ANYTHING in the first 10-20 rows of center court on the floor, that's going to cost you $200-$230. ![]() The Pistons are playing against the San Antonio Spurs at 7 pm. Maybe you'd like to see a pro basketball game in Detroit tomorrow, to celebrate the new year. For about the same amount of money with Cities:Skylines, you're only just getting started after 2 hours! If you're like me, you'll want better seats, which would run you about $100 dollars just for the tickets, or about $150-$175 for the evening. Add in parking, maybe a t-shirt purchase, and a bite to eat before or after the show, and you're well over $130 for the evening. You could go see Jefferson Starship tonight in Tampa, and pay $52 just for one ticket on the floor/in the cheap seats. Whether it's $130 with my discounts or $200-$225 or so if you got super unlucky and missed every single opportunity for a discount, this figure STILL beats most sporting events, movies, restaurants, plays, concerts, and comedy shows, purely on a "dollar per entertainment hour" basis. Even if I'm 25% incorrect in my estimate, my "all-in price" for C:S isn't more than $167 or so. I would guess that I've spent about $130 on everything so far. Since then, I've collected a few more DLCs, some of them just being cheap in-game radio stations and so forth, while others were more expensive, but most had some form of discount applied. But I will say this, even for the full price of the base game and all of its DLCs, which might be $200 if all purchased separately, you will STILL get a lot more for your "entertainment dollar per entertainment hour" than just about any other activity you might imagine.Ī couple years ago, I bought the base game and oh, I don't know, 3 or 4 DLCs, and I spent about $100.
